Turnaround times

Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.
Clinical background:
Patients who are treated with thiopurines (azathioprin and 6-mercaptopurine) are increased risk of toxicity if they have variants in genes affecting thiopurine metabolism including TPMT and NUDT15.
As 6MP forms a large part of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia/lymphoma (ALL) therapy all new cases of ALL will automatically be referred for analysis. MALDI-TOF mass array spectrometry is the technique used.
