Turnaround times
The quoted turnaround time is from sample receipt in the laboratory, to results authorisation in the Laboratory Information Management system. The times do not include transport of specimen to the laboratory or the administrative process to print and post/email reports. Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.
Clinical background:
This is a serological assay used to detect IgG antibodies to Rubellavirus. It is used to provide evidence of PAST rubella virus vaccination or infection. IgG antibodies are produced during acute infection or following vaccination and persist life long. An internationally agreed level of 10 IU/l is regarded as the level of IgG needed to be confer immunity.
