Turnaround times
The quoted turnaround time is from sample receipt in the laboratory, to results authorisation in the Laboratory Information Management system. The times do not include transport of specimen to the laboratory or the administrative process to print and post/email reports. Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.
Clinical background:
AMA are strongly associated with primary biliary cholangitis, >95% of patients will be positive (also see M2 antibodies).

AMA are detected on the Liver autoantibodies screen and if positive are reported as a titre (dilution) at which the AMA is last seen as positive. If they are not detected they will be reported as negative. This antibody may be confirmed or identified initially on the Extended Liver Autoantibody assay.
