Turnaround times
The quoted turnaround time is from sample receipt in the laboratory, to results authorisation in the Laboratory Information Management system. The times do not include transport of specimen to the laboratory or the administrative process to print and post/email reports. Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.
Clinical background:
Mi-2 antibody is seen in 25% of adults with dermatomyositis, in 10 to 15% of patients with juvenile dermatomyositis and in less than 1% of patients with polymyositis. MI-2 antibodies are generally of high titre, and show no variation during the course of the disease or its treatment.
