Turnaround times
The quoted turnaround time is from sample receipt in the laboratory, to results authorisation in the Laboratory Information Management system. The times do not include transport of specimen to the laboratory or the administrative process to print and post/email reports. Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.
Clinical background:
Measles IgM is useful for the serological diagnosis of acute measles virus infection. Please note that IgM may be negative in the first 2-3 days after rash onset. If acute measles is suspected a throat swab sample should therefore be sent for measles PCR testing (please contact the laboratory).

Interpretation:
