Turnaround times
The quoted turnaround time is from sample receipt in the laboratory, to results authorisation in the Laboratory Information Management system. The times do not include transport of specimen to the laboratory or the administrative process to print and post/email reports. Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.

Requests for Liver Autoantibodies will automatically be tested as follows:
Antinuclear antibody (ANA) – Reported as a titre or as Negative Gastric Parietal Cell antibody (GPC) – reported as strongly positive, positive, weakly positive, negative or ‘Not reportable in the presence of AMA’. Smooth muscle antibody – reported as a titre or as negativeAnti-mitochondrial antibody (AMA) – reported as a titre or as negative. Liver-Kidney Microsomal antibody (LKM) – reported as a titre, not reported if negative unless specifically requested. Ribosomal antibody – reported as a titre, not reported if negative unless specifically requested. Centromere antibody – reported if seen. Other patterns of staining may be reported if seen.

Requests for Autoantibody Screen will not be repeated on a patient if a further sample is received within 6 weeks of any previous sample.
