Turnaround times
The quoted turnaround time is from sample receipt in the laboratory, to results authorisation in the Laboratory Information Management system. The times do not include transport of specimen to the laboratory or the administrative process to print and post/email reports. Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.
Clinical background:
The MPN panel looks at variants in JAK2 (exons 12 and 14; including V617F), MPL (exon 10), CALR (exon9) and CSF3R (exon 14). Variants in JAK2 are found in almost all cases of polycythaemia vera and variants in JAK2, MPL and CALR are round in around 85% of cases of essential thrombocythaemia and myelofibrosis. CSF3R is frequently mutated in chronic neutrophilic leukaemia.
