Turnaround times
The quoted turnaround time is from sample receipt in the laboratory, to results authorisation in the Laboratory Information Management system. The times do not include transport of specimen to the laboratory or the administrative process to print and post/email reports. Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.
Clinical background:
Anti-M2 – specific for PBC. Anti-Soluble liver antigen (SLA) – associated with autoimmune hepatitis type 1 Anti-Liver cytosol (LC) – associated with autoimmune hepatitis type 2 Anti-Liver-Kidney Microsomal – associated with autoimmune hepatitis type 2 and drug induced hepatitis.

In the Extended Liver Antibodies screen serum is examined for the presence of the following autoantibodies. Anti-M2, LKM, LC and SLA. They are reported as Negative, Borderline, Positive, or Strongly positive.
