Turnaround times
The quoted turnaround time is from sample receipt in the laboratory, to results authorisation in the Laboratory Information Management system. The times do not include transport of specimen to the laboratory or the administrative process to print and post/email reports. Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.
Clinical background:
Dengue is a travel-associated viral disease transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes.Dengue is a viral disease transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes. It most commonly presents with fever and joint pain, but can be more sever.This test can be used to determine whether a person with symptoms and recent potential exposure to dengue has been infected. Symptoms may initially resemble other diseases, such as malaria. IgM antibodies are produced first and are detectable 7 – 10 days after infection while IgG levels rise more slowly and can persist.
