Turnaround times
The quoted turnaround time is from sample receipt in the laboratory, to results authorisation in the Laboratory Information Management system. The times do not include transport of specimen to the laboratory or the administrative process to print and post/email reports. Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.
Clinical background:
Antibodies recognize the collapsin response-mediator brain protein (CRMP) family; CRMP5 is the dominant antigen. Associated with small cell lung cancer (SCLC) in 77% and thymoma in 6%.The syndrome can include: subacaute sensory neuropathy; limbic encephalopathy; cereballar ataxia; extra-pyramidal syndromes; myopathy. The presence of antibodies to CV2/CRMP5 in SCLC is associated with better prognosis than anti-Hu antibodies.
