Turnaround times
The quoted turnaround time is from sample receipt in the laboratory, to results authorisation in the Laboratory Information Management system. The times do not include transport of specimen to the laboratory or the administrative process to print and post/email reports. Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.
Clinical background:
Measurement of naïve T cells in the investigation/monitoring of immunodeficiency should be discussed with the appropriate immunologist (adult or paediatric).

Note that samples should be received in the laboratory no later than 3pm on a Friday. Later arrivals will not be processed. Samples should be kept at room temperature.

This test is usually done in conjunction with lymphocyte surface markers, in which case a separate sample is not required. The following markers are included: CD3, CD4, CD27 and CD45RA. Samples should ideally be tested as fresh as possible. Keep at room temperature at all times. Samples should arrive in the laboratory no later than 15:00 on a Friday. Samples arriving later than this will not be processed.
