Turnaround times
The quoted turnaround time is from sample receipt in the laboratory, to results authorisation in the Laboratory Information Management system. The times do not include transport of specimen to the laboratory or the administrative process to print and post/email reports. Service users must allow for transport and reporting time when ordering tests.
Clinical background:
Acetylcholine Receptor Antibodies (ACRA) are found in 85% of patients with Myasthenia Gravis. Antibodies may persist even when the disease is in remission. ACRA are also seen in patients with thymoma and penicillamine-induced myasthenia.

Interpretation:
About 10% of patients with myasthenia may have no detectable AchRAbs. Patients with ocular myasthenia may have negative AchRAbs.
