Urine NTx can be used to monitor response to antiresorptive therapy, confirm patient compliance and assess efficacy of new therapies in patients with metabolic bone disease such as osteoporosis, Paget’s disease, primary hyperparathyroidism and metastatic bone disease
Specimen container paediatric:
Plain urine
Specimen container adult:
Plain universal container (randome sample, second morning void), plain bottle for 24 hour urine collection
Minimum volume paediatric:
2.5 mL
Minimum volume adult:
1 mL
Special requirements:
For monitoring therapy, baseline samples should be collected prior to initiation of therapy. Subsequent samples for comparison should be collected at the same time of day as the baseline.
Sample stability:
Store at 2-8°C for up to 72 hours, at -20°C for long term storage
